I had a series of posts back in college called 10 things you didn't know you didn't know. It was basically a collection of links, videos, and "stuff" I found interesting. I decided to bring it back on a semi regular basis. Here is the most recent edition of 10 things you didn't know you didn't know.
1. Jerry Falwell said "we're not electing a pastor and chief." Michael Gerson had an article this week in The Atlantic called The Last Temptation exploring the question of why self proclaimed evangelicals have come to endorse a president famous for locker room talk.
2. Directly related to this week's number one thing you didn't know you didn't know is this article in the New York Times.
3. Ghana is contending for the crown of World's Fastest Growing Economy.
4. I'm always interested in how the form or structure of an artistic presentation effects the way we experience that art. Whether it's the fibonacci sequence in photography or the structure of comedy. This article about the structure of a stand up comedy routine was fantastic both in its own presentation of the topic and the material discussed. It's got some graphic content in it like most stand up routines.
6. Mt. Joy released a new album last week.
7. This is from a few months ago. It's about a Catholic priest in Atlanta who is in America illegally. Rev. Rey Pineda is a DACA recipient. My friend Sarthak Sharma and I recorded a podcast about DACA and the important choices congress must make.
8. This got no press and it's terrible. Composer Robert Lopez was the first person to win an EGOT (emmy, grammy, oscar, and tony) twice.
9. Heretic a documentary about Rob Bell came out last week. You should watch it. Rob Bell is someone who asks questions of consequence but often fails to provide the footnotes. Regardless, I find him a fascinating and provoking character. I don't agree with him or his style but that should never stop you from watching a documentary.
10. This short film won an Oscar for best short film. Live action short film is my favorite category, and I know that sounds so stupid elitist, but it's worth your time. This was my favorite of the nominees.
